Our aim is to make all our guests as comfortable as possible. However, we are aware that owing to the construction and fabric of the building, we are unlikely to be suitable for everyone.
In order to achieve the best possible, we arranged an inspection by Tourism for All. Several pointers were given on ways to enhance facilities for our guests.
The report from Tourism for All suggested that with these minor adjustments, an M1 Mobility Rating under the National Accessible Scheme would be achieved.
This is defined as follows: Typically suitable for a person with sufficient mobility to climb a flight of steps, but would benefit from points of fixtures and fittings to aid balance.
Recent visits from elderly & mobility-impaired family members provided further suggestions which we have acted on accordingly.
We have outlined below the facilities currently available, in order that you may decide whether we can meet your needs. Please feel free to discuss any specific requirements with us.
Front door access – Sloped access to front door, very small lip step over UPVC frame.
Dining room, bar, lounge – on ground floor, all flat access.
Downstairs Cloakroom – Toilet frame available if required, lever taps. Inward opening door, not wheelchair accessible.
Ground Floor Double/Twin Bedroom – Zip & link bed, smoke alarm with strobe and vibrating pad, touch bedside lamps, remote control TV with teletext, cordless kettle. Ensuite shower has grab-handle, washbasin with lever taps, not wheelchair accessible. Portable step for shower, shower stool, toilet frame & toilet raiser available for this or other bedrooms (1 set only)
Family Garden Suite – situated at rear, ramped access via car park (flat) or via hotel sunlounge (portable ramp). Wheelchair accessible, sufficient space for wheelchair in rooms.
First floor bedrooms – accessed via 1 flight of stairs with handrail on both sides, then 2 steps with one handrail. All bedrooms with shower ensuites. Lever tap attachments available for those with difficulty operating standard crystal taps.
Public Bathroom 1st Floor – Grab handles for bath/shower, thermometer available to check water temperature, lever attachments on taps.
Second floor rooms – accessible via stairs with one banister only. Ensuites as first floor
General: Raised lettering on room doors for easy identification; pictorial dining/bar menus; teletext TV with remote in lounge, public phone with inductive coupling; specialised cutlery/cups for those with dexterity problems; large print playing cards, special diets catered for, insulin storage available.
